Sara's 7 Habits Work
Since I’m not actively researching right now, I decided to start with #7, Share What You Learn.
I have been putting off writing my family history for my children and family members.
The first step has been to review some information on how to write a family history. One book I have particularly helpful is titled. A Recipe for Writing a Family History, by Devon Noel Lee and Andrew Lee. Kindle edition
The second step is to spend at least half an hour a day writing as the book suggests. I decided to do the easiest, starting with my parents. Sources primarily consist of birth, marriage and death records, census records personal knowledge and family stories told passed down by them.
I plan to explore newspapers to add any details or circumstances that would have affected the family in given time and place.
The book mentioned above is not currently in our library collection. However, in the Source section of the library (classroom) there are also several books on writing a family history. The FamilySearch Wiki is another good source.
